Plantation Fiji 2009-2018 (South Pacific Distillery)
Plantation, a rum company represented in virtually every bar. Especially bottles like the O.F.T.D. and the 3-Stars are absolute exceptional standards in their respective categories that you can never go wrong with.
Today's Fiji rum won the double gold medal at the famous San Francisco Spirits Competition, as well as the gold medal at The Spirits Business' Rum Masters. Like all Plantation, after the actual distillation process in pot & column stills, as well as the storage in bourbon casks, it got another 2 years in the cognac barrels of the Chateau de Bonbonnet belonging to Ferrand. For a long time Plantation has sugared some of its bottlings quite a bit, even if not everything. With the new EU regulations this declined significantly or was partly discontinued, and the company - and this is really commendable - began to indicate all their rums with the dosage, in addition to the other already previously transparent and interesting information. Thus we know that this Fiji has no sugar addition which is a good thing.
A really convincing bottling and it certainly has this very special Fiji note, which is somewhat greenish, contains often some floral elements, especially often the rose water. A great rum for interesting twists in any form, from Mai Tai to Rum OFs and Daiquiris, this could fit into almost anything well with a little adjustment.
